It's Raining Men!

Well, not really...but wouldn't it be cool if it did! I'm stuck indoors nursing a cold, cruising the internet, eating... oh, well at least I'm not stuck at work pretending to look enthusiastic! The photo is my backyard pond (courtesy of Mother Nature)

Hope your Sunday is great! and drier...

Want to swap?

I lost another day of work at the restaurant this week. They are putting in some kind of transfibulator or something in the kitchen.... I wasn't paying attention... my eyes glazed over when I was told...all I could think of was crap! My money has dwindled alot already and now I am losing yet another day! I will stop here or I might go on a rant that could last for hours and I would rather spend my time offering a swap...with you. Just pop into my etsy shop and see if there is anything you want and either email me or leave a comment with a photo or link of what you want to trade.
Have a fun day and for cryin outloud don't forget to laugh out loud...these days we need it more than ever!

This menapause stuff...

is making me a bit nutty...well, nuttier than I was before. I am really affected at work. As you know I am a food server... a trained monkey could do the job (in my opinion) but there are days I just can't seem to get with it. The other day I was on the floor only 10 minutes when "it" started. I sat a woman down in my section handed her the menu and asked her "would you like a menu?" What? Did I really just ask her that? We laughed it off...I took her order. She wanted a sandwhich and small salad for starters. I brought her the salad and drink... turned in the sandwhich order to the cook and went about my business which is walking around trying to look busy and being a smart ass. I noticed my customer was finished with her food and I asked if she would like a slice of pie. She replied "I haven't gotten my sandwhich yet"... Dah!!! Hello Inge! How could you miss that? You have a total of one customers. My response was "this is what you get to look forward too when you reach menapause!" I really am losing it!

Hope your Valentines Day is fun!

The temperature is just too...

cold for my taste. I know those of you living in the midwest and back east think we Californians are big sissies... ok it's true (for me anyway) I admit it when it comes to cold weather I am a BIG SISSY! My hands freeze up and I can't hold a pen to write anything... my nose runs and my toes feel like popsicles. I am a fair weather gal. Give me a sunny beach to lay on any day! I really don't need the season changes... I can watch that on the weather channel! I remember years ago laying on a Miami beach December 25th and it was 80 degrees... I was in heaven!

I really hate seeing the homeless and their dogs outside in freezing temperatures too. Well, to be honest I really don't like seeing the animals being put through this....as for the humans they do have some choices. The other day I was at work and it was raining and freezing cold. I watched some of the neighborhood homeless (and their numbers are growing) walk around with umbrellas and looking for places to get out of the rain. It was 9 o'clock at night and I really don't know if there is a shelter where they can go and get out of the bad weather with their pets... my guess is no... if I had the money I would provide a warm dry, safe place for them and their pets...rules be damned! I know if that were me I would remain with my pets... no matter what... we are in this together!

I can't help but wonder how these people fell through the cracks... living outside in these conditions has to to be awful, what is it about their lives that has made them decide that living outside is a better alternative to what they had before? My childhood was no picknick and I will not bore you with the details... I belive many of us have sad stories to tell and I just do not want to dwell on the past... I cannot change those events I can only focus on the present. What made my life different than theirs? What is that saying... but by the grace of God go I? (I actually prefer to say Goddess)

Our dog, Charlie will celebrate two years living with us next month. He was homeless for at least a month...with a broken back leg. John found him wandering around the dumpster at his work looking for food. He works at a retirement home and many of the residents knew of Charlie but he was scared of people (rightly so) and no one could get close to him to help. After a month of leaving food out for Charlie, John finally grabbed him while he was eating and put him in our car and brought him home (along with 17 tics!). There is a large public park nearby and we assume Charlie spent a great deal of time there. It took a long time to explain to him that he no longer had to eat acorns... he now had real dog food! I cannot imagine what his life was like during that month. As for his leg... by the time we got him the vet said it would have to be rebroken and we could not do that to him... so now he walks on three legs when he is tired.

I am grateful everyday for my life and furbabies and my warm place to sleep. I pray that these souls I see in the neighborhood at work will someday find a warm place to call home.

I took the 2009 Census Job test

on Monday... me and a zillion other people. I worked for the census 20 years ago... was it really that long ago ? and the test was much simpler then and there was no "homeland security" background check... thankfully we were allowed to keep our shoes on while taking the test something not allowed at airport security... have you seen some of these people's feet while standing inline at airport security? their toe nails could easily be classified as weapons! Jeez haven't these people ever heard of nail clippers????

I linked the Census test site in case you have absolutely nothing to do and feel like taking a test that was clearly made by someone who spoke fluent pig latin! I mean who thinks this crap up?
I won't know if I have a job for at least a month... seems like alot of tax payer money being spent for a job that will last only 2 months.

Meanwhile, I am still looking... There was a job I was hopeful for... it was with an internet company in town. I applied on line like a zillion other people... and decided to stop in the office and check on my resume status... this town is incredibly small because when I went inside the building a customer from where I work now...and I use that term loosely... was standing in front of me and I let out a groan and I know I rolled my eyeballs because I am famous for that... it is an automatic response when I am in the company of a PIA and he reacted the same waywhen he saw me. Crap! I am trying to get away from these people... I don't want to be stuck with them at another job!
I left... what else could I do? Oh, well, I won't give up! Next week I work three days delivering Valentine flowers and I have done that before... good money so I won't bitch.

Have fun and don't forget to laugh!
xoxo Inge
