I am trying something new. Blog advertising. I see some other blogs are doing it so I decided to try it out. Let me know what you think.
Hope your Valentine's Day is fun and if you are in between valentine sweethearts don't forget to take care of yourself. Doesn't a gift certificate for a massage sound like a wonderful, nurturing gift for yourself???

To My Favorite Valentine!
Feb 12, 2010

Weird thing happened at the Vons parking lot today (our local grocery store). I was about to get in my car when a well dressed man about my age approached me asking for money. Now he wasn't in a suit but nice button up shirt and khakis. He told me he and his wife were in a financial bind and could I help out with a couple of bucks. I asked him where his wife was and he said she is down the street. I tried to "read" him to figure out if he really needed help, but I just didn't know. I didn't have any cash on me anyway, so I told him no. Then I watched where he went. He went over to his car, a Toyota Camry, not brand new but not that old and quite clean. I drove slowly out of the parking lot and observed him approaching someone else.
I thought about this on the way home and I wondered what his story really was. I even felt a bit guilty. What if his story is true and he and his wife are down and out. Maybe she was asking for money down the street. I will never know.
After living in San Francisco several years and being conned out of money from individuals who seemed to need help has left me a bit skeptic. I really don't like feeling that way but I get pretty mad when I realize I have been had.
Hope your day is thought provoking and don't forget to laugh out loud!

I am in awe of people who say they knew what they wanted to do with their life since they were a kid. I never contemplated anything like that. My days were spent pretty much wondering what I was going to do that day. Maybe if if I had been paying more attention to my future I would not have so much trouble with it now. I want to follow my passion and earn a living from that but the times I have attempted to go that way; like shop for antiques and collectibles and resell them... well, it just didn't pan out - financially speaking. I know that some say there is more to success than money but the guy I give my rent money to each month will beg to differ.
I am visualizing myself getting paid lots of money and see myself getting hired but so far nothing has really materialized. I really don't know what my perfect job is... well I can day dream about what I would like it to be, but in order for that to manifest itself will require money and lots of it. I have read plenty of books that say follow your dream and start your dream business but don't quit your day job until it becomes financially stable. Right now I want a job that pays me enough money to pay my expenses and allows me the extra time to research my dream job, oh, and how about a healthy work environment where the company does not work it's emloyees to death. I am doing everything I am supposed to be doing. I am keeping my part of the deal; visualizing, vision board, meditating, gratitude journal, applying for jobs online and in person, even cold calling. I am more than ready for the universe to keep its part of the deal. I know patience is a virtue but I live in a world that wants to be paid and on time. I am ready for that job. RIGHT NOW!
Hope your day is spent at a job that you love and don't forget to laugh out loud!

The days are flying by. I could use a few more hours to get the things done I would like to accomplish. I start my day meditating, focusing on my breath, then breakfast (toast and coffee) I am so predictable... then writing in my gratitude journal. Next checking craigslist for new jobs and of surfing around looking for anything inspiring, connections, omens. I came across something interesting written by Steve Jobs... remember him? I have to admit I was surprised to see that he could write something so open and vulnerable but here it is
http://www.dreammanifesto.com/courage-follow-heart-intuition.html
Then I did some more surfing and found a blog called http://www.thechangeblog.com/. There are contributing writers on the blog and I found a quote from Byrnne Betz that I found interesting:
"The law of attraction tells us that ‘like attracts like’. If we honk our horns in anger, we create anger in others and should expect another horn, literally or figuratively, to be blown back in our direction. What we exude will return to us. If something inside us calls us to change our paths, to honor our hearts in a new way, and if we choose to listen, the net has no choice but to appear, for we will attract it, we will create that which we need. The challenge comes in letting the energy of this wise, heart-centered aspect of our deepest Selves flow through us so thoroughly that we don’t miss what sits before our eyes. In order to be used, the treasures we have attracted to help us on our paths must first be seen."
I am still working on trying to figure out the difference between my intuition and my ego just throwing in its 2 cents. I am hoping I will find some clarity on this.
I have also decided to stop watching the news. I used to be a news junkie. CNN is my drug of choice and the similar news agencies on cable. I have come to the conclusion that ALL the news stations are in the business of scaring the masses and therefore keeping everyone of us in our assigned stations. They show the world as a scary place (they know how to blow a simple news event completely out of proportion) and show endless suffering night after night. When they are not engaging in that - the cable news channels seem to try to one up each other with insults and pissing contests. They have all become sensationalists and opinionated while parading around that they are journalists and just reporting the news. Many seem to become spokespersons for the political party they like best. I find it disgusting and I will not watch them anymore.
There just isn't enough hours in the day and I am really examining how I want to use the limited time I have. Hope you are finding enough time to do the things you love! and don't forget to laugh out loud! xoxo Inge

I went to the unemployment office today to see if I could meet with a job counselor and get any leads on restaurant jobs. What a waste of time that was. I basically signed in at the front desk, was handed a couple of books that introduced me to their office and was shown where the computers were so I could look up jobs. Well, to be fair I got to sign up for an account with CalJobs, which is really just an online job search, which I can access from any computer. I can also post my resume. I was hoping for a bit more. Alot of other people there were checking on their unemployment check status. I won't go back there anytime soon.
I will just keep on doing what I am doing which is pound the pavement and look for work the old fashioned way. Remember when that was the only way to look for work. No computers. No internet. No facebook. How did we ever survive????? I wish we would go back to the way things were. Posting resumes and applying for jobs on the internet is so impersonal. There is no room to elaborate on why we feel we are qualified for the job, that is if you are looking for work on a company website. Just click on the box - yes or no. Have you been on any of the company sites that have a 50 question psychological survey to go along with the application? Those really drive me nuts!
Tomorrow is a new day and for new possibilities!
Hope your day is fun and don't forget to laugh out loud!

Went to the job interview yesterday and I think it went ok. I was told there were lots of people who applied and if I get a call next week I get to come back and be looked over by the G.M. We shall see...
Meanwhile, I am meditating, visualizing and asking my guide for help. I really only have been out of work since January 14th but it feels like months already. I am listening to the little voice in my head... (the good one) who suggests places for me to check out but so far when I show up to those places I don't understand why I am there. Then the other voice (the bad one) who reminds me I am a knucklehead for listening to the other one.
Tomorrow is a new day! With new possibilities!
Hope your day is full of adventure and possibilities and don't forget to laugh out loud!
