Here I am back at the library. One hour sure goes by fast! I have been at library a few times but did not have time to check in. My world is good... no complaints... no one wants to really listen anyway... ha! ha! no, really I do have lots to be thankful for. Hope your holidays are fun and do not stress out! Stay away from those crazy malls! Shop locally, give money to animal charities ( my favorite! way to donate) spend time with those you love, and take time to relax!

Not having a computer at home is really not that bad. I decided to live dangerously today and left the house without my cell phone and bottled water! I am lucky to live close to a library that has nearly a million computers. We don't know how useful our local libraries are until we need them. There are just some things like libraries, fire departments, police, mail service, garbage pick up... well, you get it... that are worth paying our taxes for. All this talk of privatizing these organizations that we now pay for with our tax dollars would really be a mess if we went that route. Not everything has to be about money and making a profit. We are a society and we have to learn to live together whether we like it or not. I am happy with how the elections turned out in California. I am all for seeing women in office but these were not the right women for me. I did not like their track record or ideas.

Hope your weekend is fun and don't forget to laugh out loud!

A few days ago my laptop went on the fritz, so I called my friend who knows lots about computer stuff and told him what was going on. He suggested I click on "safe mode" and that will fix my problem... well let me give you some advice... do not click on the "safe mode" or any other mode for that matter... run don't walk your nearest Office Depot and they will do a free diagnostic to find out the problem. If I had done that I would not be blogging from my neighborhood library computer because my laptop is fried... kaput... nada... gone to computer heaven. Oh well, I did enjoy paying bills via the net... now it's back to snail mail. The up side... I have more time to play with my critters....

Hope your week is in "safe mode" and don't forget to laugh out loud!

Book Review

I read a variety of books about spirituality, the paranormal, self-help, and the occasional detective books that feature cats. I was recently contacted by the author, Betsy Otter Thompson, via email to review a new book she just wrote. The last time I did a book review I was in college, so to say the least I am a bit rusty. But I agreed and she sent me a copy in the mail. I have to admit I was thrown off at first because it was about Jesus.... not that there is anything wrong with that but I remember reading another book a long time ago that seemed spiritual but the last few pages started preaching about salvation and anyone who disagreed with the author's point of view was taking the express lane to Hell... anyone who knows me knows that if anyone who says (spiritually speaking) it is my way or the highway.... I always take the highway. However, after I put my prejudice aside, I saw that the author was giving a hypothetical interview with Jesus and how he affected the people lives he knew in the Bible. There is a question and answer sheet after each chapter, as well as the personal insight from the author. It is not a quick read and I suggest that anyone reading this book take the time to really think about the questions and write the answers down in a journal. I usually started my day reading and spending part of my day pondering the questions. It is a good book for anyone who would like to explore their belief system about religion, spirtuality and how it affects their choices in daily life. My favorite quote in the book is " We don't take our beliefs with us when we leave here; we take the love we found from having them."
If you would like to know more about the author and her book check out her website or go to Amazon.com to buy a copy.

One of my co-workers is studying to take US Citizenship test. He gave me a sample of questions that will be on the test and he knew the answers. I am embarrassed to admit that I do not know many of the answers to the questions and I attended California public schools. I am attaching a link if you would like to try and answer the questions. Let me know how you did if you like.

Another week has gone by.... Monday started out... what can I say... stressful. I arrived at work at 8:25 and by 8:30 I was chasing my ct down the street across busy traffic. Luckily I had 2 other men helping me... If a ct is injured in our care we are responsible... even if ct is running away. He really was not running away... it was all about attention. I lasted about an hour with him (he ran away 4 times during that time and cussed me out when I tried to reason with him) now remember I have no training in this field I have to rely on my own wits and there are days even those are limited. The rest of the week I was paired up with calmer clients who wanted to be at the program... as for the other ct he continued his behavior 4 days in a row... all day ... until the police were called by someone driving by because he was fighting with a coach in the street... the PD does not have time to play such games and have no problem arresting someone sane or not. The ct behaved (sort of) the rest of the week.
Thursday was my birthday but since that day is my 11 hour work day I just laid low and saved my energy. The next day Lucy had to go to the vet, her left eye was swollen and she was definitely in pain. We now have 2 one-eyed dogs. Apparently her eye had an ulcer for months... did you know dogs have 3 eyelids? Me neither... well this ulcer must have been hidden good because no one noticed it me or her vet. They removed the eye that afternoon and cleaned her teeth... she lost 6... I sure hope this is the end of her medical problems... that poor pooch has been through so much! I know I said it before but I will say it again... It is amazing how resilient animals are... even though her eye hurt she was ready for a snack! She is resting now wearing her cone for the next 2 weeks until the stitches come out.
Hope your week is sane and don't forget to laugh out loud! xo Inge

I have not blogged for it seems like forever. I finally got a full time job but it is the job that is eating my brain! Don't get me wrong in this work climate I am grateful to have finally found a job and since it is Monday - Friday mornings, I have time to work a 2nd job, or on the weekends so I can catch up on our bills. I am working with the mentally ill and everyday is an adventure. I spent one hour last week trying to convince someone to stop licking the rug... what I should have done was find out what drugs this person was taking and joined him! I am able to laugh alot of this stuff off but there are times I want to just cry. It is the most stressful job I have ever had and I figure after this I can do anything! I am journaling, meditating, working on my gratitude journal and watching funny programs to keep myself sane and grounded.
It will be my birthday on Thursday... no plans that day I work in the day and at the farmers market at night... maybe Sunday John and I can go to the beach... I haven't had my beach fix in awhile.

This fun video was emailed to me and for all you animal lovers out there you will probably enjoy it! Hope your week is sane and don't forget to laugh out loud!
