I am still looking for work and limping around. My foot is not as swollen as it was but it is more painful, especially when I am off it for awhile. I cannot wear a closed shoe comfortably but I have for a few minutes when I went on my interviews. I did get hired...yay!!!! but the hours are part time and the pay is minimum wage...boo!!!! I did take the job though because my peeps convinced me to take it and continue looking for work. I did go on another interview for a job I really want and the pay is much better but I was told they would get back to me in a week for a second interview and if I didn't hear from them call them back. Sounds promising to me but who knows?

Now back to the job I did get... I just don't feel right going to that job knowing full well that if and when the job I really want hires me, I will quit the lower paying job. I am not scheduled to start that job until August 23rd. Lots of people have told me that things like that happen all the time but I don't think it makes it right. It takes alot of paperwork and time to process a new employee. Now if I got hired and didn't know about another possible job offer then that is different. I really like the person who hired me and I know he has no control over the wages so I plan to call him and tell him I have to turn it down. I just think it is the right thing to do - for me.

I have to say something about the huge health care fight... I would say debate but I have seen nothing but a group of people who act like a bunch of small children having a tantrum. Their logic makes no sense to me. It looks like most of the people who are heckling and acting downright rude are old enough to get medicare and social security. Don't they know both are run by our government? I guess part of the freedoms of living in America include the freedom to look like a dumb ass! I recently saw a news commentary that these health care town hall meetings resemble an episode of Jerry Springer. I have to agree. As for Glenn Beck who, in my opinion is an overpaid village idiot and does not want any change in our health care system ... well, check out this video he made in January 2008... I think it speaks for itself.

I got this emailed to me and I signed the petition to stop aerial hunting of wolves: ttp://bit.ly/mFezy #wildlife . Please take a look at it and if you feel the way I do, sign the petition and pass it on. Commercials that have animals in it get my attention and my newest fav is the SPDR commercial with the two dogs and the romantic french music in the background. I also found a you tube video with some one's dog watching it.

My feet are not happy with me

at least my right one isn't. I am still pretty swollen and areas of my foot are turning black and blue. I was going to drive back to so cal tomorrow but I think I need to rest another day. I say rest which means - me getting up every hour to putz around for another hour. There is always something that needs to be done... especially when one is planning a move... I am impatient, I want to be moved already and John and I working our dream jobs... but life has a way of interrupting plans. I am happy though to be spending more time with my furbabies and of course my hubby.

Sometimes I can't believe my luck

Yesterday we went to a local Mexican restaurant and it was busy when we arrived so we waited outside. Then a "for rent" sign across the street caught my eye, so I walked over to get a better look... I am looking for a house to rent and maybe this could be the one. I didn't notice the handicapped curb and down I went...on my left knee (the one I banged up about 3 months ago) and I felt my right ankle twist. Damn!!!!! I was thinking.... James just broke his ankle is a few feet away with his crutches and here I go and hurt myself! My outward reaction was to start laughing but inside my ankle hurt bad. I was able to get myself up and a group of other people looked at me like I was possibly drunk. Thanks for your concern and helping me up. I did not want to be a "party pooper" so I sucked it up and had dinner with my party, but I could feel my ankle swelling. When I got home I iced for the night and again when I got up. I had an interview (I can't say where because I don't want to jinx it) this afternoon and I was able to have a slight limp... you know my motto..."never let em see you sweat"!

Remember the saying "you can't take it with you"? Well, that is true but one can have a fancy place to spend enternity... for the right price.
This cemetary is definitely the most elaborate one I have visited. Especially the graves up on the hillside. The rest of it was a standard cemetary... graves had headstones flat on the grass so a mower could easily go over them. The fancier ones required a gardener's touch.

Can you see the three small black bowls? There is some type of food in them and it attracted all the crows. I think the food is part of a tradition in eastern religion... the food is intended for the departed to eat in the after life.

Check out the view! That blue area is the Pacific Ocean

This area contained many urns. It was quite nice and there were many benches around the cemetary where one could just sit with their thoughts.

I never heard it called "family estates" before. The rock with the sign "available" on it is actually an urn where one can spend eternity by a small babbling brook. I even saw 2 jack rabbits and a lizard playing in the area but they hid when they saw me coming with the camera.

Check out this real estate for the "dearly departed". May be you can't take it with you but you can have a fancy place to "rest in peace", if you have the cash.

At least I have interesting things to look at while I sit at stop lights!

The upside to being off work for awhile is that one can try out new a hairdo.

This symbol is like a beacon of light shining off the highways I travel. It shows me where the clean bathrooms are... the coffee to keep me awake on my drive... they are my office away from home where I can blog (like now) and check email and work on excel tutorials (like the one I am taking a break from). I always feel comfortable when I go to Starbucks. I know what to expect. I like the coffee cold and hot. I like the company, it's philosophy, and the way it treats its employees. Everyone who works at least 20 hours a week gets health insurance.

Now that I have given a free plug to Starbucks I have to go back and study the excel tutorial.

If I could get paid for getting lost in LA

I could be well on my way to make my first million. I have driven up and down Hwy 91 east and west - not to mention Hwy 5 to San Diego. I have missed numerous exits and have lost count of how many drivers have flipped me off for driving to slow. One time I got off the hwy onto another thinking I will just go around and get back on the freeway going the other way... but that highway is a toll road so when I got off (after going a mere 1/4 mile) I had to drop in a dollars worth of change... no pennies thank you and no actual person in the toll booth only a surveilance camera just itching to photograph me leaving without paying my dollar so the powers that be can send me a fine for god knows how much. After searching my purse, ashtray, and under the seats I came up with the coins and went on my way.
I came across a man who said he knew the area and directed me to the freeway hwy 5 where I can drive all day for free but this guy did not know the area and I was lost for 20 minutes on surface streets and finally had to call James for help.
Yay! I was a mere 2 blocks from the illusive freeway entrance. But the closer I got I noticed grey smoke at my freeway entrance! Apparantly the once green, very dry shrubs were on fire and no one was able to get on! Damn! There went another 15 minutes driving through endless traffic looking for another freeway entrance.
