Day Trip

John and I decided to take a day trip yesterday to Marysville. It's about an hour away. We had lunch in a neighborhook cafe and boy it was Good! The cafe is in a brick building whivh automatically gives it character (in my opinion) and it has a patio which we took advantage of because of the nice weather. Inside there was a loveseat and coffee table... a customer was eating lunch and taking advantage of the free wifi. They serve sandwiches and breakfast goodies, as well as your standard barista stuff. They have something called a French soda which caught my eye...something new... I had to try it. It turned out to be a spinoff from an Italian soda... add half & half to club soda and Italian flavored syrup and you have a French soda. Yum!!
Hope you are having a fun weekend... oh and I am typing the correct way... in case you are
wondering... it is slow going but I am not giving up!
Don't forget to laugh outloud!

What is going on with our society?

I went to the Butte County Employment Office today to practise my typing. I do it at home too but they have a program that has typing games which is more fun than the boring ones I can get for free online. There was something posted on the computer however, that caught my attention, it read...

" These computers are used for purposes related to job search only. Online dating, chat rooms, and viewing of pornography is strictly prohibited"

Do we really need such postings? Can't men give their fascination with their dicks a time out at the employment office? Jeez!
Don't forget to laugh outloud!

Homeland Security

I ran down to JC Penneys yesterday...I heard they are hiring. When I arrived I was directed to a room with a computer where I was to fill out my application and take a psych test. I also had to agree to a background check...credit report, criminal check and (get this) to see if I am on some government terrorist watch list! Apparently there is a problem with terrorists infiltrating the lingerie departments of our department stores and blowing up the padded bras! The psych test was to help them figure out if I planned on stealing said bras or if I saw someone else stealing them would I tattle on them. Next job application please!

Don't forget to laugh outloud!

Typing...Ughhhhhh!!!!

I hate typing...the correct way. I am a hunt and peck typist, which is fine for when I am blogging or typing for myself...but this learning how to type so I can get a job stinks! My fingers aren't as limber as they used to be...probably form waitressing and massaging clients. My pinkies aren't interested in reaching for keys. I have been practising my typing skills so I can look for another type of work besides food service. When we move, I want to sell at flea markets and if I work in a restaurant I can't do that...restaurants almost always require weekend availability. Just for giggle check out this webpage and do the practise test :

Hope your Sunday is more exciting than mine! and don't forget to laugh outloud!

Be careful of online want ads!

As you I am looking for a new job and part of my search is on the internet... well, to be honest I have a wonderful man by the name of Damien who is my case worker at the employment office and he sends me job listings daily to my email...which saves me hours of time sorting through the job search engines. He has limited time as well and therefore cannot check out if each of these ads are to see if they are legit... that is my job.

So far I have found two that fooled me up until one asked for my password and a message from Yahoo jumped in to alert me that I should not give out that info to anyone but Yahoo...I still don't know how they figured that out. So I canceled the application. Actually, I should have paid attention the day before... the ad was for a customer service position from UHaul... I went down in person to drop off a resume and no one knew there was an open position. That's why I decided to apply online as well.

Then there was the meter reader position posted in craigslist... there was no mention it was pge but I assumed it was (you know what they say when we assume something!) so I applied online and halfway through I got alot of questions asking if I was interested in higher education and would I like to buy some products...now I know that pge would like more revenue but I don't think they are in the business of selling online college degrees. So I deleted that one too.

I think in these times of job losses there will be more and more predators online posing as employers.. but are really looking to take what is left of your hard earned money. Check and recheck every single ad that does not sound right and do not give out any personal information over the interenet. If they are legit they can get that info when you show up for the interview.

I found a job interview on youtube that might be helpful to you...in case your looking.

Peace out! and don't forget to laugh outloud!

Census Schmensus!

Remember when I told you I took the Census test? Well, I called to check on the status and the woman on the other end told me I passed (in a very yippee!! tone) so I said great what is my next step and she said "oh we are only hiring military vets and bilingual speakers" ... well why the f#*k! didn't you tell me that before I wasted all that time studying for it and actually taking that stinkin test! I remember 20 years ago... I took the test cold turkey and was hired that same day. This job hunting crap is starting to piss me off. I apply on line and hear nothing back Well, today I was watching some tv show about job hunting and I learned that there actually computers programmed to weed out potential applicants by certain " buzz words or phrases"... how impersonal is that? Well, the next job I apply for I plan to use the buzz phrase
" Can I please work for your dumbass company you giant dumbass!" Oh and another place I applied for wanted a copy of my credit report. I will be happy to supply that information to you if you give me a copy of your financial report so I know if you are smart enough to not go bankrupt after I am hired! I cannot believe how complicated it is these days to find a job... all these hoops to go through and for a job that only pays $10.00 an hour IF I'm lucky! I feel like I'm a guest star on the tv show "Worst Week ". I am sooo gratreful to my friends who share jokes via email... they keep me laughing!

Eleven Years!

Wow! John you should get a medal for living with me for 11 years! I am very lucky to have you in my life and I am grateful to have found you. It only took 3 marriages...well you know what they say...third time is a charm! Did you ever see the movie "Sametime Next Year"? That is what it's like living with me. I have reinvented myself many times over... I have been called bossy (I prefer opinionated)... I sometimes sound like I have Tourettes when I get stressed out... I am a backseat driver... and the average man just couldn't "hang" with that... but you did, John. You are so thoughtful to find time during your busy work schedule ( a chef) and made me cupcakes (my favorite) and presented them to me after we got off work tonight. I am one lucky chick!

As for the rest of you...don't forget to laugh outloud (with that special someone) and if you are still looking don't give up... that person is out there! xoxo Inge
