This symbol is like a beacon of light shining off the highways I travel. It shows me where the clean bathrooms are... the coffee to keep me awake on my drive... they are my office away from home where I can blog (like now) and check email and work on excel tutorials (like the one I am taking a break from). I always feel comfortable when I go to Starbucks. I know what to expect. I like the coffee cold and hot. I like the company, it's philosophy, and the way it treats its employees. Everyone who works at least 20 hours a week gets health insurance.
Now that I have given a free plug to Starbucks I have to go back and study the excel tutorial.
Zzzzzzzzz!
Have a fun day and don't forget to laugh outoud!

I just ran into this on youtube. It's the music from one of my all time fav movies.

If I could get paid for getting lost in LA

I could be well on my way to make my first million. I have driven up and down Hwy 91 east and west - not to mention Hwy 5 to San Diego. I have missed numerous exits and have lost count of how many drivers have flipped me off for driving to slow. One time I got off the hwy onto another thinking I will just go around and get back on the freeway going the other way... but that highway is a toll road so when I got off (after going a mere 1/4 mile) I had to drop in a dollars worth of change... no pennies thank you and no actual person in the toll booth only a surveilance camera just itching to photograph me leaving without paying my dollar so the powers that be can send me a fine for god knows how much. After searching my purse, ashtray, and under the seats I came up with the coins and went on my way.
I came across a man who said he knew the area and directed me to the freeway hwy 5 where I can drive all day for free but this guy did not know the area and I was lost for 20 minutes on surface streets and finally had to call James for help.
Yay! I was a mere 2 blocks from the illusive freeway entrance. But the closer I got I noticed grey smoke at my freeway entrance! Apparantly the once green, very dry shrubs were on fire and no one was able to get on! Damn! There went another 15 minutes driving through endless traffic looking for another freeway entrance.
Hope your day went well and don't forget to laugh outloud!

Remember Abbott and Costello?

If Bud Abbott and Lou Costello were alive today, their infamous sketch, "Who's on First?" might have turned out something like this:
COSTELLO CALLS TO BUY A COMPUTER FROM ABBOTT
ABBOTT: Super Duper computer store. Can I help you?
COSTELLO: Thanks I'm setting up an office in my den and I'm thinking about buying a computer.
ABBOTT: Mac?
COSTELLO: No, the name's Lou.
ABBOTT: Your computer?COSTELLO: I don't own a computer. I want to buy one.
ABBOTT: Mac?
COSTELLO: I told you, my name's Lou.
ABBOTT: What about Windows?
COSTELLO: Why? Will it get stuffy in here?
ABBOTT: Do you want a computer with Windows?
COSTELLO: I don't know. What will I see when I look at the windows?
ABBOTT: Wallpaper.
COSTELLO: Never mind the windows. I need a computer and software.
ABBOTT: Software for Windows?
COSTELLO: No. On the computer! I need something I can use to write proposals, track expenses and run my business. what do you have?
ABBOTT: Office.
COSTELLO: Yeah, for my office. Can you recommend anything?
ABBOTT: I just did.
COSTELLO: You just did what?
ABBOTT: Recommend something.
COSTELLO: You recommended something?
ABBOTT: Yes.
COSTELLO: For my office?
ABBOTT: Yes.
COSTELLO: OK, what did you recommend for my office?
ABBOTT: Office.
COSTELLO: Yes, for my office!
ABBOTT: I recommend Office with Windows.
COSTELLO: I already have an office with windows! OK, let's just say I'm sitting at my computer and I want to type a proposal. what do I need?
ABBOTT: Word.
COSTELLO: What word?
ABBOTT: Word in Office.
COSTELLO: The only word in office is office.
ABBOTT: The Word in Office for Windows.
COSTELLO: Which word in office for windows?
ABBOTT: The Word you get when you click the blue "W".
COSTELLO: I'm going to click your blue "w" if you don't start with some straight answers. What about financial bookkeeping? You have anything I can track my money with?
ABBOT T: Money.
COSTELLO: That's right. What do you have?
ABBOTT: Money.
COSTELLO: I need money to track my money?
ABBOTT: It comes bundled with your computer.
COSTELLO: What's bundled with my computer?
ABBOTT: Money.
COSTELLO: Money comes with my computer?
ABBOTT: Yes. No extra charge.
COSTELLO: I get a bundle of money with my computer? How much?
ABBOTT: One copy.
COSTELLO: Isn't it illegal to copy money?
ABBOTT: Microsoft gave us a license to copy Money.
COSTELLO: They can give you a license to copy money?
ABBOTT: Why not? THEY OWN IT!
A few days later.
ABBOTT: Super Duper computer store.. Can I help you?
COSTELLO: How do I turn my computer off?
ABBOTT: Click on "START".............

Why do weekends go by so fast? I made sure to spend as much time as possible with each of my babies and hubby. I want to cherish each moment with them. I think about Austin every quiet moment I get, especially driving to and from LA. I miss him terribly but I have other critter family members here... lot's of hugs and kisses to dole out.

My bag is packed and I am ready to go. I think Scout is hoping he can come along this time.
Hope your weekend was fun. Don't forget to laugh outloud! and don't forget to kiss your loved ones furry and otherwise and tell them how much you love them!

On the road again...

That's where I'll be tomorrow at this time... heading north to Chico. I miss my family sooooo much! I have been gone 2 weeks this time and I really miss everyone. I come back Monday and Tuesday morning I have an interview with a temp agency. I originally applied online for receptionist positions and emailed my resume reflecting that type of experience...BUT yesterday I had an "Aha!" moment. I was talking to a neighbor of James and she now works as a teacher...kindergarten...bless her! I can't do it... not enough patience anymore....but she used to work for Marie Calendars as the bar manager for nearly 20 years. She suggested I check them out for their assistant manager trainee positions. I decided what the hell! I have been killing myself with this typing stuff and even though I am better, I have to face it-under pressure my typing is not good. I remember back in the day when I did temp work and someone handed me a paper to type and return in 5 minutes and the handwriting was a mess! I had no idea what it said and when I asked the person who wrote it- they would get annoyed because apparantly the person I was filling in for had a secret decoder ring that she used to decipher the letter and she took it with her. You get my drift.

I do however, have a great deal of experience in restaurants as a server but my feet have worn out and I cannot carry loads of plates anymore but since I know the restaurant biz and I am not afraid to make a decision I would be a perfect candidate for restaurant management. It couldn't hurt. So I will change my focus and see what happens...

What's a Virgin?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTL47rhVfZU

I drove to San Diego yesterday, and I have to admit I was disappointed with the downtown area. It looked exactly like downtown San Francisco... dirty, crowded, scruffy people... probably has the same problems any large city has. It definitely was not the vacation spot I imagined. I did not feel relaxed like I did at Seal Beach. I stopped by the hotel I was thinking of staying at which is about two miles north of the downtown area and I was disappointed with that too. I am glad I did not put down a deposit. The main problem was no parking... no paid overnight lot parking... no street parking.... just like San Francisco... and the hotel (which I am not naming on purpose to give the owner a break because he was helpful and friendly on the phone) was a bit too worn out for my taste and for the monthly rent of $1100.00, with no parking. Did I mention there was no parking in the area?
The Employment Development Office was ok. I have to return on Friday and attend a group orientation.... if I can get in, they expect lots of people to show up. In Chico I signed up and met with a job counselor all in the same day. Go figure. So I decided to try the Orange county EDD today. I did not realize that Orange county is so close to San Diego county, so maybe I will have luck there. I also looked on craigslist and there are appear to be some good jobs listed... at least there are some sprinkled throughout the many scam jobs! Check out these ads...
BEWARE: of the Ad requesting a Female Stylist (L.A.)
Beware, because this man is asking for a topless hairdresser (or or one willing to wear lingerie) while cutting his hair. This is so Very insulting. I've worked many years at top salons in Beverly Hills perfecting my craft, and can't imagine this same man asking other professionals (such as his doctor) if she wouldn't mind being topless while making a house call. I think not... Have some Respect Please.

I can cross this off my bucket list

"The sun spit morning" remember that line from the movie "The Owl and the Pussycat" with Barbara Streisand? This is the view out my drivers side window waiting in line for the Long Beach Flea Market to let the vendors in.

My booth. I'm ready to sell! sell! sell!

Isn't this bag cute??? What a small world.... this gal was here from Arizona with her sis-in-law for a "power girl" weekend. I told her I liked her bag and she told me that she went to a workshop put on by Mary from Sweet Peas and Snapshots http://sweetpeasandsnapshots.com/ Mary is one of the blogs I like to follow and if you don't know about her you should check her out.

This beautiful booth belongs to Rose Carey. She has a blog you can check out.
http://thetarnishedcrownblog.blogspot.com/ She can be found at other flea marts in So Cal so check out her blog to find out where she will be next...

Many happy faces having fun at the flea market in spite of the hot weather.
I didn't make as much money as I hoped to make but it was better than a poke in the eye.
Tomorrow I go back to hunting for work.... Hope your week will be fun!
Don't forget to laugh outloud!

Spent the afternoon at Seal Beach

I took these pictures around the neighborhood in Seal Beach. What a beautiful community! There were a few homes for sale... one was listed for $1,399,000.00. Yikes!

These two shops were next door to each other. The shop was french shabby chic... my favorite! and the tea shop actually was a place to have tea! They even supply the hats... too bad I'm a hardcore coffee drinker... but I could go for wearing the fun hat! There was a party going on when I got there! If you are in Seal Beach and like tea you must stop by. They have a website http://www.fairyteacottage.com/

This lovely garden nursery is on Main street, historic downtown Seal Beach

These two cuties enjoyed the beach with their mom in their very own stroller! I have to get one of these for Cooper & Olive to ride around in when we move.

It's a great day to soak up the sun at the beach. The sun was hot but there was a nice breeze to cool things off a bit.
Have a fun rest of your weekend. I have to get to bed early... tomorrow is the big flea market day at Long Beach.
Don't forget to laugh outloud
